My semester topic was animal rescue. I chose this topic because it’s very near and close to my heart. I have a love and passion for helping animals, and thought the topic would be great inspiration for my projects, a graphic design, logo, audio story and video story.
While I enjoyed working on each individual project, the one I would like to reflect on is my logo. To create my logo I worked with Adobe Illustrator, which I had never worked with before. This assignment was challenging and took me a while to complete. However, after all of my hard work, I received great feedback in regards to it and a high grade, which was extremely rewarding.
I created a logo for Pawsitive Rescue, an animal shelter that I can only dream I’ll one day own. I was really happy and proud with the end result, and I believe this is a project I can use if I ever open the shelter or even to showcase in the professional world as part of my portfolio.
The main critique on the project was the color I chose, while it’s good, it may be hard to see if the logo is scaled down. So, I decided to go back to this project and play around with other colors, while also making sure what I choose is visible if scaled down.
I chose the color blue for the words and dark grey for the paw. I think these colors really pop and the logo is visible scaled down. This logo would catch the eye of someone looking to rescue their next pet. The logo also show professionalism and experience on the technical side (even though I’m new to Illustrator).
